Met predicts more rains, CM reviews situation

Fishermen have been advised not to
venture into the sea. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday afternoon visited Udainarayanpur in Howrah to review the flood-like situation. She held a meeting at the BDO office with district officials and agriculture marketing minister Arup Roy. “The chief minister told us to shift people living in low lying areas to safe places. We have already identified schools and other buildings where we can provide shelter to marooned people,” district magistrate Sanghamitra Ghosh said after the meeting. Ms Banerjee personally gave `two lakh for the purchase of food grains and other relief materials.
Ms Banerjee has also asked her ministers, MPs and MLAs to fan out in the affected districts. Senior Trinamul Congress leaders will go to five districts with relief materials on Saturday.
Trinamul Congress secretary general Partha Chatterjee said, “I will personally go to Hooghly with Rachpal Singh and others.”
