Modi visit motivates state BJP workers
The Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi’s maiden visit to the city will rejuvenate the party and galvanise its supporters for the upcoming elections, feel state BJP leaders.
On Tuesday, Modi was received with thunderous applause when he addressed the Bharatiya Janata Party workers at Mahajati Sadan. The workers were denied permission to host a reception ceremony at Netaji Indoor Station. But, that did not deter Modi from showering praises on Bengal and Mamata Banerjee government for its performance after the Left Front regime.
He was trying to galvanise party workers with an eye on the upcoming panchayat and Lok Sabha elections. He virtually set a deadline of one year for the party workers to strengthen the organisation and increase the support base in Bengal. He further said ,”I want you to increase the party’s strength and its support base so that the BJP can launch a powerful movement from Bengal within next year.”
Setting Gujarat as a ‘parametre’ for other Indian states, He added, “Everyone says we will move ahead of Gujarat in every aspect, but one must conduct a reality check before going to that extent. People have rejected the Congress because they have failed to perform and they would uproot every other party who fails to live up to their expectations.”
