Murder accused saves judge from snake bite
A murder accused, Islam Sheikh, on Tuesday saved Justice Prasenjit Biswas from a possible snake bite on Tuesday at the Berhampore District Judges’ Court.
At around 11 am, a murder case hearing was on at the additional district 4th session judge Justice Prasenjit Biswas’ court. Suddenly, the under-trial murder accused of the case, Islam Sheikh, heard the hissing of a snake from inside the judge’s table. A pandemonium broke out and everyone started rushing out. Sheikh, however, fearlessly tried to catch the snake. Some other people also helped him. After a great deal of painstaking effort, the murder accused managed to catch the venomous reptile. The snake was later killed. Following the chaos triggered by the snake, the judge adjourned the court for the day.
Berhampore Bar Association president Abu Bakar Siddiqui thanked Islam Sheikh and lauded his presence of mind and courage. Mr Siddiqui also complained that the rapid growth of shrubbery in the court area had now full of jungle.
Court authority should clean up the jungle which full of venomous snakes and others insects.
