Police claims six Maoists arrested
Six Maoists were arrested from various parts of the state on Friday. Three of them were rounded up from Khejuri in East Midnapore, two from Bankura and one from Arsa in Purulia.
“We have arrested three Maoists, including a female cadre. We are yet to verify their names. They were holding a meeting near Bhangabera bridge at Khejuri from where they were arrested on Friday morning,” said Hrishikesh Meena, the assistant superintendent of police (rural-Contai) East Midnapore. Some arms and cartridges, apart from some Maoist literature, have been seized from their possession.
In Bankura, two Maoists — Chuna Ram and Ram Chandra Mandi — were arrested from Simlapal. “They were holding meeting when we raided the area. Two of them were arrested,” confirmed superintendent of police, Bankura, Vishal Garg.
Meanwhile, one Shibu Majhi was arrested from Santra village in Purulia.

Man dies of heat stroke in S. Kolkata

May 14: A middle-aged man died due to heat-stroke in the city on Friday. The incident took place at 56/B Bondel Road in south Kolkata in the afternoon.
At around 2 pm, the local residents found a man losing consciousness and falling on the road, official sources disclosed. They rushed him to Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital for treatment, preliminary investigations revealed. “But he was declared brought dead. He was aged around 42,” a senior officer of the Karaya police station said. The identity of the deceased is yet to be established.
