Somen rejects cong’s offer to rejoin party

Trinamul Congress MP Somen Mitra on Thursday rejected the Congress’ offer to rejoin the party by quitting Trinamul Congress. Interestingly, Mr Mitra rejected the offer while attending the memorial service of Murshidabad Congress MP Mannan Hussain’s mother-in-law at Berhampore on Thursday.

Describing him as a caged tiger in Trinamul Congress, Mr Hussain had requested Mr Mitra to rejoin the Congress.
On his wife Shikha Mitra’s suspension, Mr Mitra said that they are in touch with the party leadership and he hoped that the matter would be resolved soon. Ms Mitra, a Trinamul MLA, has been suspended for anti-party comments.
