Two arrested for Chetna’s murder
Two persons, including a woman, has been arrested for the murder of Chetna Sanghvi, who was recently found dead at her Bhowanipore residence. The victim’s niece — Manisha Patel, 40, who is one of the arrested persons, had masterminded the murder of the 55-year-old woman for money.
“It was Manisha’s bag that she left on the scene of crime proved as a vital clue. From the cellphone inside the bag, it was found that it belonged to the victim’s niece Manisha,” said a senior officer of the Bhowanipore police station.
Further investigation revealed that Manisha, who was Chetna’s husband’s uncle’s daughter, had become debt-ridden after a string of failed businesses. During her visits to a gold jewellery shop at Bagri market, she had befriended one Rajiv Das, 23, an employee of that shop.
On Monday afternoon, Manisha and Rajiv went to Chetna’s residence and before Chetna could suspect any foul play, Rajiv had overpowered her before throttling her. However, in a hurry, Manisha had left her handbag on the spot.
