Vedic temple project: Ford grateful to Mamata govt
After much hurdle, the proposed Vedic temple-cum-planetarium of ISCKON in Mayapur is set to be completed by 2016, the 50th anniversary of ISKCON. Its chief patron and great grandson of Henry Ford of Ford Motor company, Alfred Brush Ford on Monday said: “The Mayapur project which faced much hurdles during the previous government, saw the day’s light with the new government headed by Mamata Banerjee.
The ISKCON authorities said that they plan to invite Queen of United Kingdom, the President of United States of America, to inaugurate the temple.”
Mr Ford’s project, which will have an uncanny resemblance to the US Congress Building in Washington DC and provide accommodation to “10,000 dancing devotees” of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, was stuck due to red-tapism of the previous Left Front government.
Mr Ford said: “They (the Left Front government) did not want it and were very much against us doing anything there. But the new government has been very friendly and we are very grateful to them.”
