West Bengal will get 48 companies
The West Bengal government has been assured of 48 companies of the Central paramilitary forces for the elections in 81 municipalities, including the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), on May 30. Besides, 23 companies will come from other states for poll purposes.
State home secretary Samar Ghosh said, “Till now, we have been assured of getting 71 companies of forces from the Centre and from the other states on the day of election.”
Meanwhile, the Federation of Secretariat Employees (West Bengal), an association of the state government employees backed by the TMC, on Wednesday launched a campaign calling for a change in the ensuing civic polls. Significantly, for a first time in the recent period, an employees’ association has launched such a campaign inside the Writers’ Buildings.
This association will also organise a march, calling for a change in the civic polls, on May 24.
