A ‘crooked’ debut for Neha
Neha Sharma is extremely excited. She’s also very nervous, and with good cause. Her first Bollywood film Crook was released on Friday and Neha is awaiting the audience’s response to the film. But mixed in with all the anxiety is a huge dash of happiness. “Happiness and gratitude,” Neha amends. “My first Bollywood film is finally out!”
Neha has plenty to be grateful about. As a Mahesh Bhatt discovery, she has some very well known mentors supporting her. “It’s been wonderful. (Mahesh) Bhatt saab and Mukeshji (Bhatt) are legends and when they give you a compliment, you really appreciate it,” says Neha. “These are people who know what they’re talking about, who’ve been around a long time in the industry. When they appreciate your work, it’s overwhelming.”
Co-star Emraan Hashmi too comes in for a lot of praise from her. “He has proved his mettle time and again. And as a co-star, you see him bring so many nuances into each scene. He’s punctual and humble,” she adds.
Neha says her character in Crook, Suhani, has plenty of similarities with her real-life persona. “Suhani and I know what we want to do in life. Suhani would always take a stand against something wrong. I’m the same way.”
