‘Gud’da times
Dressed in cream and ivory and completely recovered from his heart attack, Rohit Bal looked every bit the fashionista. The master of fabric and fantasy, often termed as the ‘bad boy’ of fashiondom, showcased his latest collection, “KhaKastari”, which met with a phenomenal response.
The collection, he says, means colours of ash in Persian and speaks all about him. “Post my heart attack, I have mellowed down and this collection reflects that. It’s about how I feel. The colours, the fabrics and the style is gentle, sensitive and spiritual. It gives an ethereal feel.”
With every new collection, he says that there is immense pressure on him. “The audience is always expecting more from me. Of course, I give them what they want with every new design. But I also add in what they haven’t seen. The more they expect from you, the more power you get,” he laughs.
Rohit’s got a new muse — Chitrangada Singh, who he says is stunning. However, Arjun Rampal, he says, will always remain his favourite. “He is very easy. He epitomises the perfection that can be found in the male form.” The trends for 2011 will be mixing and matching various colours and fabrics, he says. “Lots of forms being mixed into each other, experimentation, over the top is the mantra for 2011,” he adds.
