‘Topless’ Mallika hopes to win fans

Some celebrities just can’t get enough of hogging the limelight, and they like to keep up the bizarre acts to stir a controversy. There is an endless list of “famous” women, who love to create a buzz with their sexy photo shoots. The latest to join the bandwagon is sex siren Mallika Sherawat, who decided to go “au naturale” in order to promote her upcoming film Hiss where she plays the role of a snake-woman. But that’s not all. She allegedly posted her picture with snake textured body paint (topless) on Twitter asking her followers “is it too much?”
Earlier, actors like Sherlyn Chopra, Lindsay Lohan and Katy Perry have stripped and posted their photos for what many say is “cheap thrills”. Youngsters are wondering if in Mallika’s case it is too much of “digital oversharing” or just another publicity gimmick?
Suhana Singh, a DU student opines, “Mallika has always been infamous for being too ‘bold’. From her very first movie, she has managed to stay in the limelight for her controversial statements, photos and even MMSes. The girl has made it to Hollywood too with such gimmicks. If this works for her more than acting skills, then she will continue this even in the future.”
Nishank Sharma, a student at IIMT says, “Some celebs totally contradict their statements with their acts. On one side, they want to keep things private and then they post intimate pictures on the Internet to generate interest. It is just a publicity stunt to draw attention.”
“Going topless is the easiest way to get noticed for actors, but such publicity is too short-lived because it’s their acting that matters in the long run,” feels Pooja Gulati, a student.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
