Abhay fills in for Sunny

Ever since the engagement was announced, rumour mills went rife withspeculation on whether or not Sunny and Bobby Deol would be attendingthe wedding. And the brothers confirmed the suspicion by remaining absent on all the ceremonies — right from engagement to the wedding.

Since North Indian wedding ceremonies have several rituals thatinvolve the brothers of the bride, elder brother Sunny’s absence raised many eyebrows. Some were saying he would drop by at Hema Malini and Dharmendra’s bungalow to bless his sister during the vidaai ceremony. However, the family refused to confirm or deny it. Butbefore things could be blown out of proportion, it was Abhay Deol who stepped in like the dutiful brother and took charge. An eyewitness said, “Abhay filled in for both Sunny and Bobby. Heensured he did his bit to make the bride and his superstar uncle happy. He was by Esha’s side throughout the sangeet, mehndi andwedding. His gesture has certainly strengthened his equ tion with Hema and the rest of the family.” In an exclusive interview with The Asian Age, Abhay had said, “Esha is my buddy. I wouldn’t miss her wedding for anything in the world.” The man has sure lived up to his word.
