‘Ajay isn’t intimidating’
His stellar act in Fashion fetched him 22 film offers but Arjan Bajwa didn’t select even one. That’s just to give you an idea of how choosy he is. But choosiness paid off when, after a few forgettable projects, he bagged a meaty role in the Ajay Devgn produced Son of Sardar opposite Sonakshi Sinha.
Arjan says his criterion for choosing a film role has undergone a vast change over the years. “Earlier, I only used to look for a good role. But today, one needs to look at films in their entirety where marketing and publicity have as much importance as the acting and direction,” he says.
In SOS, Arjan plays a doctor who repeatedly gets himself into funny and embarrassing situations. “He’s not your usual stethoscope-swinging doctor. He’s a happy-go-lucky guy who is best friends with Sonakshi’s character in the film. Sona is an absolute pleasure to work with. She’s a complete natural in front of the camera and I must say in the course of shooting for the film, we have become good friends,” says Arjan.
Besides Sonakshi, Arjan also enjoyed working with Ajay. “Unlike what people make him out to be, Ajay’s not intimidating at all. It’s just that he is very reserved. To see Ajay work is an experience in itself. He’s not just a great actor but he’s also an astute technician. And to have a senior actor encouraging you on the sets can be of great help,” he says.
