Ajay Devgn maintains that he practices what he preaches

Ajay Devgn has been in the industry for over two decades, and is known to be associated with various social causes. However, this time the actor has lent his support to an environmental cause. Ajay is the brand ambassador for WWF-India’s global campaign for The Earth Hour 2013.

“The cause is to raise awareness and inspire action on climate change,” says Devgn. He says that The Earth Hour shouldn’t be just restricted to March 23. “Why do we have to observe ‘The Earth Hour’ just on March 23? We should get into the practice of saving electricity by limiting the usage daily. And that’s exactly what I tell my children,” he says. Ajay has always maintained that he practices what he preaches. “I won’t take up anything for the heck of it. This is a cause I strongly feel for and hence I support it. The idea is to protect mother earth and make it a better place to live in,” he adds.
This year many celebrities will switch off the lights in their homes for an hour between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm today. This year, the popular campaign has received support from Shruti Hassan, Jiiva, Venkatesh Prasad, Bengali actor Parambrata and boxer Mary Kom. The actor, who flew from Bengaluru to Mumbai on Thursday to be with close friend Sanjay Dutt, says, “I had to take a charter flight back
to Mumbai to be with my brother Sanjay.”
Shattered by the turn of events Ajay says he is speechless. “I did speak to Sanjay after the verdict was announced. Now after the Earth Hour event I’m going straight to his house.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
