All’s well on the home front
Kalki Koechlin is in a happy place now. After Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, her performance has been widely appreciated in Shanghai too and the film has managed to ring the cash registers as well. “I am lucky to be getting films that I genuinely want to be a part of,” says the elated actress.
But she has her set of troubles too. Being the wife of an acclaimed director as Anurag Kashyap can have its pitfalls as Kalki is gradually realising. For instance, of late, she has been tired of tackling queries about why she isn’t a part of Anurag’s upcoming film Gangs of Wasseypur. “I think people should stop reading too much into this. All is well between my husband and me. There is no hard and fast rule that I have to be a part of every film he makes. He is a director with a vision. If he has a suitable role for me, I’ll definitely be a part of it. But he won’t forcefully create a role for me and I respect that,” Kalki says.
The actress is well aware of her limitations as far as film roles are concerned. “It will be difficult to get more roles such as the one in ZNMD, but I have my own position and category in the industry which, I am proud to say, I have created for myself,” she says.
