All set to spring a shocker

Rajeev Khandelwal, who’s been missing in action for a while after his television stint Sach ka Saamna, is all set for the release of his upcoming film thriller Table No. 21. The film’s trailer is out and the actor is excited with the response it’s been garnering.

“It will be a shocker for the audience. It’s a film where I play a game with Paresh Rawal without being aware of the consequences. The film is packed with a lot of action and drama, and will surely entertain,” he shares.
So far, it’s been a mixed bag for the actor, who has had four releases. While his debut film Aamir fetched him rave reviews, Soundtrack that saw him play a deaf DJ was critically acclaimed and Shaitaan where he played a tough cop found favour with critics and the audiences alike.
Table No. 21 will be the first release of 2013 and Rajeev is hoping it will prove to be a good start.
Interestingly, the actor, despite his romantic image courtesy his role as loverboy Sujal (Kaahin Toh Hoga), is yet to woo a girl on the big screen. “It’s so ironic. I was this romantic guy of the small screen and I chose to shatter that. Playing a romantic role comes naturally to me. So I prefer surprising the audience with a different role everytime and not stick to one kind of image,” says the actor.
When asked to comment on its similarity with Hollywood film Indecent Proposal, Rajeev dismisses by saying, “Just because the film has a Western approach towards the script, such comparisons are likely to come. I am enjoying such comments because people will realise it is different only after they watch the film and are thrilled,” says Rajeev.
Talking about the preparations that the actor has undergone for his role, Rajeev shares, “I have shed three kilos for the film and now I plan to maintain the same look for sometime.”
Reminscing about the time spent in Delhi, actor says, “I used to be a loner and explorer type of a guy who would spend hours roaming around. Naroji Nagar ke pakore and Kake da Dhaba in CP used to be my favourite hang-out.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
