All set for summer’s grand finale
Delhi-based designer Namrata Joshipura says she is playing Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde these days. Namrata is preparing for her grand finale show at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/ Resort 2013 and simultaneously designing for Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Fall/ Winter 2013. “I am going to showcase at both the places and currently working on two absolutely different collections,” says Namrata, a regular at Wills.
An opportunity to showcase at Lakmé came as a surprise to the designer and she sees it as an addition to her ‘family’. “Doing Lakmé does not mean that I will not be a part of Wills. My association with them (Wills) will continue just the same. Lakmé is a great offer that came my way and I am happy to accept it. Getting the grand finale slot was never a criterion. This offer came much after I had given my consent for the show,” says Namrata, admitting she can never choose between the two.
“You don’t stop loving the first bond if you get an addition to the family,” she says.
Namrata is presently preparing two different collections. “My Lakmé collection is full of happy and bright colours and sheer fabrics with some use of layering. You’d see lot of separate tops, skirts, dresses and maxis in Mumbai. For Wills Lifestyle in Delhi, it is a complete contrast. Here I am working with darker shades and heavier fabric since it’s fall winter. Working on two opposite collections is quite taxing,” she ends.
