They are a five-membered progressive, alternative rock band from Delhi, who have been constantly searching for new sounds to emancipate from the confines of musical genres and have used them to embellish their music.

We recently caught up with the Delhi-based band, October who recently performed in the capital at Hard Rock Cafe.
Talking about the contemporary music scene, Rohan Panjiar guitarist of the band says, “The youngsters in the capital are experimenting with new forms of music. More international acts are coming down in numbers to India. Delhi offers enough platforms ranging from college gigs to corporate gigs for local bands to play in the city.”
“Why we named our band October is a well kept secret within the band, and we do not wish to divulge it any time soon,” quips Rohan.
Talking about the recent gig, Rohan shares, “We played five to six songs from our album Defeat the Question, added to which there were three new songs we’ve recorded for an upcoming E.P.,” shares Rohan.
The band members attribute the role of audience to be of paramount importance. They add, “We know that our music won’t appeal to just everyone, yet every face that we see in the audience is cherished by us, because someone took time out to come and listen to us and show us some appreciation.”
The band is coming up with a three-song album by the end of February or beginning March. “Our current producer Abhimanyu Mullick, in San Fransisco is producing it and we’re getting some good vibes out of the whole thing. No working title as of now but yes, its going to be concise, edgy and bold,” shares Rohan.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
