Anirudh’s kiss and no-tell

For months there was speculation about the romance between Andrea and Anirudh. Close friends were in the know of their brief but intense friendship. But the recent leak of a personal photograph all over social networking sites confirmed their romance.
Albeit an old one at that (over a year ago), the Kolaveri boy’s image was enough to make the photograph go viral. Speaking exclusively to us, he says, “It’s unfortunate and rather distasteful that someone who downloaded this photo from my phone while charging it on their laptop released it. There are families involved and young fans who look up to me. This is not what I want to portray. I do have a personal life but it being discussed publicly hurts me.”
The music maestro who is now doing Bejoy Nambiar’s David is also excited about the work coming his way. He has already composed two songs for the film which is being shot in Ooty right now. Apart from this, he has also composed four songs for Dhanush’s production directed by Vetrimaaran’s associate Senthil. Two other big films in Tamil and Telugu are in the offing.
“Initially people thought I would be a one-song wonder but the success of the album of 3 and my Hindi single for MTV’s Rush proves the faith people have in me. I don’t want to let some mistake from the past take away from all that that is happening for me.” He adds, “My parents have given me a lot and raised me with certain values. I can never disrespect women. Things happened and fizzled out in a relationship. I am not the kind who goes around kissing women and taking photographs. My family stood by me in the midst of speculation.”
For a boy who is just 21, it might be hard to cope with the pressures of work, fame and all the attention but he seems to be sorted on that front. “For me, nothing matters more than my work. I want to entertain and make good music. Creativity is something that gives me a high. And I have totally moved on from the relationship and my past doesn’t influence or feature in my scheme of things today, ” he says.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
