Arijit croons his way to success
The path to success is strewn with obstacles and the only way to survive is never to give up. Most of us have heard such motivational lines. Bollywood singer Arijit Singh, whose latest song Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2 is topping the charts, completely swears by it.
There was a time when he had no work, no money and was on the verge of leaving Mumbai for his hometown for good. But destiny had other plans.
“Being among the top 10 contestants of the reality show Fame Gurukul, I decided to stay back in Mumbai and try my luck. For two years, I hardly got any work and such was my condition that I didn’t even have money to travel back to my hometown. I called up Shankarji and said I would need money to go back home and he offered me All for One song for High School Musical 2 in 2007. And I returned to West Bengal with the money I earned from it,” recollects Arijit.
To survive, he got into music production and was soon assisting Mithoon, Monty Sharma and Lalit. In 2010, he got a call from Pritam asking if he would like to assist him. “Soon my voice got noticed and I started getting good offers. Having a classical background, my voice is quite flexible. It helps me to mould my voice without much trouble,” says Arijit.
He is looking forward to a positive response for his upcoming number Dilli waali Girlfriend from Ranbir-starrer, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani.
