Asha’s special new act
Asha Bhosle has been an inspiration for most young singers, for her vast repertoire of songs. Most can swear by her versatility to sing pop music as well as classical with equal finesse. She is soon going to debut as an actress in the much-anticipated film, Mai.
In the city to launch the trailer of her film and to be felicitated by Happy Woman Happy World Foundation at the Parliament library, Asha tai, draped in a subtle beige sari, was accompanied by her son.
While talking about her film, Asha Bhonsle said on an emotional tone, “My mother made us stand on our feet even when we were going through deep financial crisis. Getting inspired from the life of my mother, I present you this film called Mai. This would be the first and last film in which I am acting.”
The film, which is set to release in February 2013, was delayed due to bereavement, post her daughter’s suicide. Although the launch was expected to be a grand affair, with the presence of many politicians, not many familiar faces were present at the occasion.
Nalini Chidambaram, Kiran Walia, Savitri Jindal, Vandana Luthra were among the chief attendees. Asha Bhosle made a brief appearance and did not interact with the media.
