‘Ayushmann encouraged me’

Tahira Kashyap didn’t take writing seriously till her husband, actor Ayushmann Khurana, encouraged her to go ahead and write a book. “With my father’s journalism genes and mother’s teaching ones, I had to take on them.

I had conceptualised a play during our college days for our theatre group, Manch Tantra. Ayushmann encouraged me to write a book on it and that is where it all began,” recalls Tahira, whose second book Souled Out, a collection of short stories, was launched on October 16.
Tahira is a professor of mass communications. She and Ayushmann dated for many years before finally tying the knot in November 2011. Ask her about life post Vicky Donor and she replies, “Vicky Donor and Ayushmann specially became such a crazy phenomenon overnight that it was scary for me. The kind of messages, love and hate mails that Ayushmann received were weird and funny at the same time. We have been high school sweethearts and have been together for the last 12 years.”
