Big thumbs up for this meme
At a time, when it is not an exaggeration to say that a lot of people’s happiness revolves around the number of likes they get on Facebook, a hilarious new blog has made the most of the concept Thumbs Up, a symbol which represents the social networking website’s ‘Like’ button.
Titled ‘Thumbs And Ammo,’ the blog has posts from many users who have submitted iconic violent movie scenes and replaces firearms imagery with photoshopped thumbs-up poses on them.
The central theme of the Internet’s most up-and-coming craze is that these famous actors don’t need to be waving a gun around to look like a ‘badass’ hero (or villain), but that they just need to know how to pose. In the blog’s own words, “Real tough guys don’t need guns, they just need a positive, can-do attitude.”One of the blog’s creators told online social news website Mashable that the site wasn’t really created to send an anti-gun message. It began, instead, as a competition between friends to see who could Photoshop the funniest image. The challenge has now resulted in an excellent page with a heavy dose of laughter! Cult movies such as Alien, Pulp Fiction, Robocop, Die Hard, Batman, Star Wars, Matrix, Big Lebowski, Fargo, Terminator, Scarface and lots more have not been spared from the non-violent Thumbs and Ammo attack!
As Mashable puts it, the Internet’s takeaway lesson for the day: Kill ‘em with kindness.
