The biking brotherhood
From Kanyakumari to Leh, Arunachal Pradesh to the national capital, the biking culture is growing in India. Recently over 50 young and zealous biking enthusiasts from several super-biking clubs including Born 2 Ride Motorcycle Club, Free Riders Motorcycle Club, Brotherhood Motorcycle Club as well as cult brands like Harley Davidson, BMW Motorrad and Aprilia Racing united together for one common cause, the biking brotherhood.
“As bikers, we keep meeting each other on the road. At times, two or three motorcycling clubs also come together for a one-off ride, but then, these rides are rare and limited to duration of 3-4 hours. We wanted to do something different and long lasting, so we thought of uniting several clubs and biking brands at one platform for a daylong event. Biking for us is no longer a symbol of masochism. Apart from enjoying our passion for the wheels, we also get together and work for the benefit of the physically challenged people. So whether you are a biker, a bike-lover, a traveller, you are free to come and join our gang,” said Mohit Ahuja, founder, Bikers for Good, and one of the organisers of the event.
The event held at Coopers Grill and Bar in the capital also saw an interesting mix of activities including the launch of “We’re One, 2013-14” calendar. The activity also gave a platform to seven independent artists, consisting of photographers, motorcycle customisers, a stand-up comedian and a musician.
Enjoying at the event, Ikjot Singh Bhasin, founder of another participating club, Born 2 Ride Motorcycle Club shared, “I have been riding for more than 17 years now. We bikers have always talked about the brotherhood, but it is for the first time that we shall get to see it come together for good”.
