Bips to master the art of telling lies

Trust the celebrities to be quirky with their ways. Not to leave out their New Year resolutions even. Consider the case of our very own Bipasha Basu for instance. “I bet you’ll laugh after hearing my this year’s resolution,” chirps the actor. “For I’ll be learning to lie a bit this time. You know, I’m a pathetic liar. The year before, I had failed miserably in that area. So I want to mend that flaw and perfect the art of telling lies, precisely the white and harmless ones. I guess, this is an ideal proposition to escape a sticky situation that often the media puts us through,” explains the glam-diva.
At present, the B-town bee is super busy with the promotions of her upcoming film Players, which releases this Friday. Looking absolutely stunning in a fetching LBD (little black dress) with a braided hairdo and a red hot lip-glossed pout at a recently held media interaction, Bips confirms that the slick flick is an official adaptation of the 2003 Hollywood blockbuster, The Italian Job. But there’s a rider appended to it, she notes.
“The plot is obviously pegged around the current times and jumps straight down to 2012 to pander to its needs. Moreover, new characters have been added to bring about a twist in the tale,” she reveals.
While Katrina Kaif’s oomphy item-number Chikni Chameli from the much-touted Karan Johar’s remake of Agneepath is already a huge rage on the You Tube, Bips’s electrifying capers in Ho Gayi Toon from Players is no poor cousin either! Rather, it looks promising enough to go viral in the run up to its release in theatres.
“The song is very much integral to the screenplay. It is not inserted incoherently into the movie. People are already praising it in the promos and I am quite excited. While picturising the act on the floor, we’ve attempted to adopt the cabaret costumes from Helenji’s era,” she drives home her point.
While she prays that Players does well at the box-office, she also mentions to have her hands filled with a clutch of plum projects. “In queue stands Jodi Breakers, a rom-com with Maddy (actor R. Madhavan). Now this is going to be a full-on entertainer with a brand new fresh pair on screen. Besides, I’ll start start shooting for Raaz 3 by end of this month. Whereas, the sequel Race 2 will see me donning a guest appearance in the movie,” briefs the leggy lass.
But the real biggie that’s awaiting all Bips fans is the heavyweight period piece Singularity by the globally renowned filmmaker, Roland Joffe. Set at first Anglo-Maratha war backdrop, this international venture will be the maiden English language film for Bipasha. “The experience was simply mind-blowing, I must say,” she sounds elated. An epic romance with an angle of time-travel and adventures to dribble with, the film is based on a story by Ajey Jhankar. Starring opposite the ace American actor Josh Hartnett and also Abhay Deol for company from the Indian contingent, Bips feels that she is one of the few privileged to have bagged such an endeavour in her histrionic career. “Josh is a wonderful actor and like any other woman, I’ve too had my fair share of a big fat crush on him. Initially in fact, I was completely dazed and stayed wide-eyed for a couple of days, breathing in the same space that the great actor was in,” she sums up in a gush. Way to go gal!
