Bling guru jazzes up Dogg’s look

Snoop Dogg with Manav Gangwani

If you all wondered who designed those blingy, tri-coloured and immediately attractive shades that rapper Snoop Dogg flaunted almost everywhere during his India trip, it’s Delhi-based bling guru Manav Gangwani.

In fact Manav designed a whole lot of accessories like chains, pendants, bracelets, knuckle-rings for Dogg. Keeping in mind his out of the box personality, Manav had to work on equally different ideas. “Snoop’s look is rather distinct and I created something to accentuate his personality. I felt my bling factor would work fabulously with his look. So I discussed what I wanted to design for him and he loved the accessories and promptly wore the shades. He even asked me to design some jackets, coats, waistcoats and T-shirts for him which will be shipped to Los Angeles in the near future,” says Manav.
Manav recently met Dogg through a friend, we are told, and they instantly found a connection. “My close friend, singer-actress Sophie Choudry introduced me to Dogg and we hit it off so well that I felt I’ve known him for years! In spite of the fact that he is world famous, he is exceptionally warm, easy to get along with and has become a good friend,” reveals Manav.
So is Manav fond of his music as well? “Of course! Who isn’t? I absolutely love the rhythm and beat of his music. I would not have missed his concert for the world. And I loved every single moment of it.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
