What Sonal Chauhan, Genelia D’souza, Parineeti Chopra and Bipasha Basu have in common is not their co-actors, but their hairstyle. Of late, the bevy of Bollywood beauties seem to be endorsing side fringes. While Bipasha Basu and Priyanka Chopra are regular ones to sport side fringes, Sonal Chauhan, Parineeti and Huma Qureshi are the new entrants and are often spotted wearing side fringes.
Samantha Kochhar, hairstylist and managing director of Blossom Kochhar Beauty Products, says that side fringe is the look for 2013. “Fringes are among the most popular hairstyle of 2013. It suits both curly/wavy and straight hair. 2013 is marked with a great comeback of stylish fringes. It provides a catchy look to the person wearing it and can also remove the attention of people from some of the peculiar face features,” she says.
Hair and makeup expert, Ishika Taneja of Alps, says not only Bollywood even ramp models are going for side fringes. “Side fringe is an upcoming trend. I am giving this look to a lot of models at the Lakme Fashion Week. This style makes you look feminine and is easy to carry. Perhaps, this is one hairstyle that suits every kind of a face. You can couple side fringes with a chignon or a low ponytail or may be a side plait, it always looks fashionable,” says Ishika, who thinks Priyanka Chopra who often sports a side fringe looks the best in this hairstyle.
Delhi based hair expert Sylvie says that side fringes are definitely making a comeback. “It is one of the most fashionable look. We have been giving this haircut to lot of girls. But it has become popular only now because Bollywood actresses are sporting it. Girls are going to wear side fringes despite the summer as it works with any style — even a messy one. Bipasha, Deepika and Priyanka had always been wearing it and they look gorgeous,” says Sylvie.
Samantha says that the fringe can be sported in different ways. “Some of the variations in this include classic fringe, fringe bang, BayLage fringe highlights, curly fringe, choppy fringe bangs, side swept fringes and others. People can try these fringe hairstyles according to their hair type,” she concludes.
