Bookaholics log on to online library
Won’t it be so cool if you could access an online library, anytime, anywhere and have your favourite book delivered at your doorstep within few days? A Delhi-based online library Indiareads.com is one such online portal where book lovers across the country can rent books and enjoy their favourite titles at pocket-friendly rates.
The website was started to promote education and reading habits among people, informs Gunjan Veda, CEO, Indiareads. She says, “Currently, we have over 10,000 unique titles in our library which are classified under various categories of the online catalogue. From housewives to students and professionals, this portal provides a platform to bookaholics to debate, discuss and review their favourite titles and characters.”
Gunjan, who is an author and worked as a consultant to the Planning Commission, mentions that this portal was designed to reach out to readers in two-tier cities.
She says, “All across India we deliver in 100 plus cities, and in two years we have got good response from a cross-section of people. It is a multi-city project, where we have outlets to provide books at the doorstep. There are many books that people in small cities want to read, but due to high price or less availability sometimes they can’t access it. The online rental system is a cheap option and hence it generates a lot of interest among distant readers.”
