Bride-to-be Dia on a career high
Bollywood actress Dia Mirza had a glow on her face when she was in Delhi recently. Well she is going to be a pretty bride soon and she shared her wedding plans with director-producer Sahil Sangha. “I plan to get married early next year. It will be a low-key traditional wedding,” shares Dia, who was here to receive the “Eco Crusader of the Year Award”, GeoSpa asiaSpa India Award.
Dia and Sahil are partners not just in personal but professional lives as well. Dia informs us that post Love Breakups Zindagi, which was produced by Dia’s production house Born Free Entertainment (in partnership with Sahil Sangha and Zayed Khan), she is working on several scripts in different genres including a thriller, a drama and a coming-of-age story. “Donning a producer’s hat gives so much creative freedom,” she says.
She has been keeping a low profile for some time but Dia is now all set to be back in action. She quips, “Films are not like peanuts that you just toss in a pan and serve to people. A lot of hardwork goes into coming up with a new story.”
Her next film, which goes on the floors soon, will be a thriller with an author-backed female role.
When asked if she will continue working in films post-marriage, Dia elaborated, “Absolutely yes! I believe the Indian audience has evolved with time. The way we perceive women at large, whether in the media, entertainment or corporate industry, has changed.”
She adds, “Even in the entertainment industry there are people who have been doing great work post-marriage. Vidya Balan who is a dear friend is a perfect example of a successful married actor.”
Sharing her sentiments on Bollywood’s centenary Dia says, “I love cinema as a medium of expression. It provides the opportunity to make a difference. Films are a mirror of our surroundings and responsible filmmaking can spread its message without hurting the sentiments of the masses.”
