Brothers aim to user in change
Two siblings — 12-year-old Kashyap and 17-year-old Kaushik — bonded over music to create a patriotic song Utho Jawan that was released recently on YouTube. Within few days the song has got more 30,000 views and 6,000 likes.
Kaushik Iyegar, a student of Class 12 of Sanskriti Civil Services School, says that the two of them are really fond of music and keep practicing in their free time. But they didn’t really plan to compose a patriotic song. “It just happened. The thing with music is that you don’t plan it, it happens on its own,” says Kaushik, who has been writing poems since the last four years and enjoys the entire process.
The video with the song spans a wide gamut, from the public protests at India Gate against the rape case to a normal labourer’s everyday hardships. The idea, he says, was to motivate people to usher in change. “We all are suffering because of so many things around us. The song is a kind of wake-up call to all the people in the country to rise up and take charge against their sufferings,” says Kaushik.
The idea of releasing the song on YouTube wasn’t new for the kids, as Kashyap has been popular on the site for quite sometime now. “He was a rage two years ago for one of his songs. There was no better medium to release it,” says Kaushik.
