Bucket list 2012

The countdown to the new year has begun and according to some, 2012 may be the end of the world. Whether they believe it or not, guys tell us what their resolutions are for the year ahead and compile a bucket list of fun things that every guy MUST DO in 2012.
Explore the outdoors, says Neeraj Malve, founder of the Bangalore Mountaineering Club. “I believe everyone should try adventure sports to get the thrill of living,” he says. “In 2012 we are organising our first sky diving and scuba diving trip to Thailand, for beginners.”
On the personal front, he adds, “I have made a New Year resolution for the first time — to learn Kannada. I’ve been in Bengaluru for eight years and I still don’t know the language so I think it’s about time I learnt it.”
Learning something new is also a challenge that event organiser Richard Mathew has set for himself. He tells us, “I have always been scared of flying so in 2012, I’m going to conquer that fear and take flying lessons at Jakkur.” Travelling is also on the must-do list and Richard feels a boys’ trip is the best. “I will be backpacking through Europe. I’m taking two weeks off and going to see Europe for what it really is. No baggage, and no spending a bomb,” he says.
When it comes to relationships, DJ Asif believes there’s no time like the present to make your move. “Of course I don’t believe the world is coming to an end, but if you love someone, you should pop the question,” says Asif, who is getting married in 2012. “And before I get married, I want to to play in Paris, for an all female audience!” he adds.
According to actor Vivan Bhatena, the name ‘bucket list’ should be replaced with an annual ‘to-do list’. “We get so busy with work that we lose our best years in the pursuit of money. So my advice is to make a list of things that make us happy,” he says. “I’ve recently taken up photography so I want to pursue it seriously. I’m also planning to travel and see all the national parks in India,” he adds.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
