Capital’s date with jazz artistes
Music aficionados in the capital are in for a treat, as globally renowned acoustic guitarists and Grammy-nominees Jorge Strunz and Ardeshir Farah, are set to perform here. The duo, are veterans of the Montreal International Jazz Festival and winners of the World Billboard Music Awards.
The two musicians come from different backgrounds. While one is from Costa Rica, the other is from Iran. But still they have managed to make a 30- year long union that everyone is in awe of. It’s music that connects them. “It just happened to work well together — most likely because we are technically compatible,” says Farah. While Strunz has earlier been to India in the late 90s, as a duo they will be visiting the country for the first time. “We’re planning to play all of our best material,” says Farah.
Their recent albums have a bit of gypsy music, Iranian folk and Latin jazz. They are now looking forward to learn more about the Indian music. “Jorge has long admired Indian Classical music and studied it for a period of time,” says Farah. They are also fascinated by the amazing historical sites and would like to discover those too.
The duo will perform tomorrow at 7pm at Siri Fort Auditorium
