Chivalry,what’s that?
A recent survey of 1,176 adults in relationships by Sheilas’ Wheels insurance company says that modern-day relationships are shattering because the men have lost the art of charm. They are either too busy or too ignorant to understand their partner’s need.
“I wouldn’t agree to this because men do their bit to woo their lady. Earlier it was just roses and chocolates but now they take the trouble to book lavish cruises, gift expensive diamonds,” argues Delhi-based socialite Tanisha Mohan.
Men tend to use their wallet more than mind to buy gifts. To that she answers, “Men sometimes tend to think too hard and in turn do irrelevant shopping but that I guess that could be worked out upon.”
If there is no wooing there would be no relationship, believes actor and model Arjan Bajwa. He says, “It is true that men try hard in the beginning and lose interest later, but to blame it completely on men is not fair.”
“Women are independent and successful when compared to before. If she wants something, she gets it for herself. Now, the man has to take some extra effort to surprise her and that is the biggest catch. ,” says singer Neha Bhashin.
The diamond called relationship also needs polishing with things like intangible gifts like time and belongingness. Relationship experts
Dr Dheep Rajappa, a clinical psychologist, explains, “The world has become materialistic and people keep demanding more from a relationship. If people get roses, they expect diamonds and when they get diamonds, they crave for time. “
