After a long dry spell, Delhi got a pre-monsoon shower last week; and thankfully the indication from up above was more than enough for Delhiites to announce the festivities lined up in coming weeks. The fashion calendar for Fall-Winter will kickstart with PCJ Delhi Couture Week next month, which is scheduled to be held in the city from July 31 to August 4 at the Taj Palace Hotel.

With an interesting line-up of talented designers from Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, the Fashion and Design Council of India (FDCI) has announced its list of participating designers.
Sunil Sethi, president, FDCI, mentions, “We are back with an interesting line-up of designers, who are talented, innovative and edgy. This time we didn’t want to get repetitive names, so there are some fresh couturiers who’ll be showcasing at the couture week for the first time. Designers like Ritu Beri and Arjun Khanna, who are established designers but haven’t showcased in the Delhi couture week before, will be showcasing their creations at this five-day event. Apart from Delhi designers like Anju Modi and Manish Arora, we have Manish Malhotra from Mumbai, and we have roped in Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Anamika Khanna from Kolkata, who are known for their immaculate craftsmanship all over the country.”
Interestingly, it is also speculated that there will be special lavish sets for many shows at this edition of couture week, and designer Varun Bahl is reportedly developing a special set to showcase his latest couture line at this event. This glittering event will also see Bollywood celebrities walk the ramp for some designers.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
