Cover-up girl
“It is said that no star is a heroine to her makeup artist,” had said Richard Corliss, a writer. And if you’re wondering how most of the red carpet looks are so picture perfect, here’s a skinny. It’s called the art of concealing. Regardless of their glowing complexions, most celebrities always have something to cover-up.
Make flaws look beautiful as we go on a search and destroy mission this week with beauty expert, Gouri Kapur. Gouri is of the opinion that there is a solution for every breakout, zit, blemish, grey root or dark circle. One just needs to know how to camouflage the common saboteurs.
When flaws need a finessing
Everyone wants to look younger. You might wonder how some of Hollywood’s hottest celebrities like Susan Sarandon, Christie Brinkley, Rihanna, Julianne Moore and closer home Priyanka Chopra or Katrina Kaif and others never look haggard or drawn, even when they are running errands or driving around town. Who can forget Sarah Jessica Parker, one of the most tasteful celebrities to decriminalise dark roots?
For long lasting effects, one can resort to treating deep smile lines, forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet, with the help of hyaluronic-acid fillers such as Restylane or Juvederm. But when you’re heading out and in need of a quick-fix, make up is the best bet.
Tricks of the trade
If you’ve seen paparazzi shots of Heidi Klum, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez or Cameron Diaz without makeup, you must have spotted dark eye circles and pasty skin. Even Tyra Banks has confessed that a little bit of the right makeup can go a long way. Some of these tricks are only last-ditch solutions. Concealers that mask blemishes and scars can be used like a magic wand, just like the air-brush tool in Photoshop. But one must know the right product and tricks, before application.
Concealed and confident
Use a concealer with a yellow undertone. If there is a slight discolouration, try using skin tint, which is a very light foundation and makes your face look even and not cakey. It can even be used for everyday wear. For problematic skin, you can go for medium or heavy foundation and finish it off with a concealer that matches your skin tone. Wear a smile and look flawless with your perfectly normal imperfections.
