Crematorium for a dignified farewell to pets
For those who want to say their final goodbyes to their pets with dignity and love, the capital now has its first pollution-free and electronic environment-friendly pet crematorium in Bandh road, Gadiapur, near Chhattarpur.
Dr R.T. Sharma, founder of PAWS Pet cremator and a veterinarian, shares, “There’s no crematorium in the country for respectable disposal of animals. When animal lovers around me started questioning the lack of such a place, we generated funds from like-minded people and with loans from the bank set up this place. It’s not meant only for pets, but all animals. We charge a nominal fee and don’t use wood or coal, but use diesel and electricity. The crematorium also has a hall for pet owners to offer prayers and listen to bhajans and a wall of memories where people can share their fondest memories of their pets. Also, we have an option for owners to collect their pet’s ashes and submerge it in the Ganges and they can also plant a tree in the animal’s memory.”
For Sunil Kapoor, who lost his dog Whisky in February this year, it’s a humane way of bidding farewell to a loved pet. He says, “I didn’t want to call the MCD who normally dig a hole and bury the animal. I checked with my vet who suggested the pet cremator. I am more at peace now having bid him a decent journey. Everything was handled with utmost care here and I will recommend the same to others.”
Media professional and owner of a dog, Leena D. lauds this initiative and says, “I think it’s time we show respect to the four-legged beings. And to do it in the most respectable and environment-friendly way, no animal lover can ask for more.”
