A dash of couture
As the fashion lot dash towards the new year, the must-get-on-their shopping list is that killer dance floor dress for the New Year’s eve bash. While fashionistas are splurging on designer gear inspired by couture statements made by stars, some are turning amateur designers and going the whole hog with sequins and flimsy see-through fabrics too!
Designer Chaitanya Rao, who has recently been spotted in see-through knits and laser-printed tees vows to ring in the New Year’s eve in style.
Sources close to the dapper dude reveal that he has a sensational trouser that he designed for himself. Not letting the slack image ride for long, youngsters are pushing the design envelope. Tina Vincent, a fashion designer, says, “Youngsters are now trying to accentuate their essential style. Accessorising is the mantra.” “Because of an overdose of fashion icons, like Sonam Kapoor or Imran Khan, today’s youth end up styling themselves according to their favourite stars. Brands these days are now providing a huge range, which is easier on an average person’s pocket too,” says Dipen Desai, lifestyle trends research and accessory designer.
Not wanting to be outdone by their icons, youngsters like Sneha Someshwar, are leaving no stone unturned. “I am inspired by Piggy Chopps from Anjaana Anjaani. I am making a dress like the one she wore in the Las Vegas scenes.”
