Delhi-ghtful flower power
It is believed that behind every creation is a story, but how often do we get to know about it? For those who like to buy products with an interesting piece of fact or fiction for that matter, here’s a website that will launch a series of art, home décor and apparel items based on the different cities of India.
The “city inspired designs” project for a HD videos website Bring Home Stories kickstarts in the country with the capital’s phool mandi (flower market) this month. The founder of the website Sapna Bhatia mentions, “There is a story behind all the items that we have uploaded on the website, and we have tried to tell the stories behind it by short videos that accompanies it. The theme phool mandi was a unanimous decision of our team since it’s springtime in the city.”
The project was developed by designers Brijesh Dahiya and Kuldeep Singh of Gulabo Chaap Designs, and shot by Italian fashion photographer Valerio Ascoli. Sapna says, “My website partner Paul Liptrot and I spent almost a year collecting stories about various things that we wanted to feature in oursite. From designing to production of prints and patterns, the theme-based collectibles tell stories about the city’s flower market. One can find the essence of the phool mandi in sheer silks and cotton jamas (an oversized kurta) and waistcoats, as well as in the décor range. After launching the first city collection, next in the pipeline is Mumbai, Dubai and Kerala.”
