What’s so special about Google? It has doodles! For all those who are fond of starting their day with a peppy note on this site, here’s some good news. On November 14, the doodle that will be featured on this popular search engine all day is made by a seven-year-old student Varsha Gupta.
Varsha, who studies in Ryan International School, says that she loves to draw and it was a dream come true when she won this prestigious contest among more than 1,55,000 entries from across India.
A young Varsha informs, “It was in September when I got a notice from school that we had to paint something on the theme “India’s gift to the world” for Google’s doodle. I had seen many musical instruments at my nani’s place and I painted them in oil pastel colours for this contest. After winning this contest I received a winning certificate, a laptop with Internet connection for a year and `2,00,000 technology grant for my school.”
Varsha reveals that she loves to draw and listen to music as a hobby. She also aspires to be a drawing teacher one day and takes out time everyday for painting.
Explaining her doodle she says, “India is a land of different cultures. In India, music plays a very important role. India has given many musical instruments to the world. Goddess Saraswati plays veena, Shiva plays damaru. According to our mythological stories, musical instruments used to be played on all occasions. Even during war, musical instruments were played. Lord Krishna’s flute is known all over the world for its magical notes. In modern day, Zakir Hussain is world famous as a tabla maestro and Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma is a renowned santoor player all over the world.”
