Delhi girl scores 100 % in SAT, TOEFL
“Build on your talents and pursue whatever interests you.” This is what inspires 15-year-old, Shreya Vardhan, who scored a perfect score in all the admission tests that she took for entry into a foreign university.
She has perhaps created a world record by scoring 100 per cent in the SAT Reasoning Test, the SAT Subject Tests, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and the Advanced Placement (AP) exams.
“Regular studies and undivided attention is my mantra for success. I didn’t take any coaching for the SATs or the TOEFL,” says Shreya, who gives credit to her teachers and her family members for having guided her.
“My parents’ advice is invaluable in everything I do, whether it’s organising my schedule or making an important choice. My teachers at school (DPS R.K. Puram) have been extremely encouraging and have helped me stay focused and organised,” said Shreya.
But she is not resting on her laurels yet. She is getting ready for her further career plans that include doing research in physics and possibly writing. There is also a lighter side to Shreya. She loves reading Jane Austen, P.G. Wodehouse, Jonathan Stroud, and Jawaharlal Nehru’s collections as much as she enjoys her course books.
She is also a part of the Editorial Board at her school and is interested in playing tennis and swimming. Quite a social person otherwise, Shreya finds it difficult to fill the “About me” section on social networking sites.
