Desi designers craft Kat’s wedding gown

It won’t be an exaggeration if we say that there is something too desirable about India presently that is luring many Hollywood celebrities towards it. Recently, when American TV personality and tattoo artist Kat Von D announced her wedding with deejay Deadmau5, she picked up a quirky wedding theme and chose Indian designers Falguni and Shane Peacock to design the wedding ensemble for her big day.

The Mumbai-based designers confirm the news of their next international project and talk about their association with the L.A. Ink artiste.
The designers mention that the basic layout of Kat’s underwater theme wedding is almost ready. “The wedding gown will have a sleek silhouette with a mermaid like feel and cut. Since it is an underwater themed wedding we will be using colours like teals, blues and deep violet ombre gradients. Our design philosophy ‘life is too short to blend in’, will be predominantly visible in the wedding gown. Our creations are edgy and you will notice that her wedding gown will be something never seen before,” informs the duo.
Falguni and Shane, who have known the tattoo artiste for sometime now, feel that she has a perfect body type with the right curves at the right places. The duo says, “We have known Kat for a while now and worked with her in the past. This year, when we met her at NYFW she asked us to design her wedding gown. Her body type is the kind any designer would like to dress. Her body type will complement all kind of cuts and silhouettes.”
The designers, who have worked with celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Rihanna, JLo, Fergie, find it hard to choose one favourite but they pick one outfit from their past and mention, “We cannot choose a best among so many fashion icons but Fergie wearing our outfit for the FIFA World Cup performance was one of our best moments. The outfit received a lot of appreciation from eminent individuals, from the fashion industry abroad and at home. It got us noticed and styling requests for other international pop stars have not stopped pouring in since.”
“For international fashion weeks we will be showcasing at the London Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week for the spring summer and autumn/winter,” they disclose.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
