Dhobi Ghaat’s release postponed

While Kiran Rao’s dream venture Dhobi Ghaat will be premiering at the Toronto Film Festival this week, Aamir Khan has decided to postpone the release of the film in Mumbai to next year. A source close to the Khan says that the actor believes that since the film conveys a message and is a concept based movie, the festival season is not the appropriate time to release the movie.
Earlier, Aamir had planned to release the movie on December 24 like he does all his other movies. Aamir considers December 24 a lucky day for him ever since his Taare Zameen Par which released on that day proved to be a hit.
But with Dhobi Ghaat, he is planning to make an exception like he did with Peepli Live and wants it to have a regular release. In the meantime, Aamir is also planning the marketing strategies for the movie. This will help him promote the film better.
Dhobi Ghaat also marks the directorial debut of wife Kiran and he wants to ensure that the film garners a big opening at theatres.
