Diablo 3 makes its way to consoles

After a less than impressive launch on PC over a year ago, Diablo 3 has now made it to consoles and believe it or not, it is a much more enjoyable version.
The Diablo 3 version for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 surprisingly feels like a more completed and finished game than what the PC version did at launch. The biggest change players will notice is the addition of a dodge roll. I personally love it, but in all honesty it is probably the most overpowered thing in the game. Though unlike most games where you can just dodge roll in any direction to avoid damage, here you actually need to roll out of the way rather than anywhere; getting hit while rolling will still cause damage but its still a great way avoid incoming projectiles.
Unlike the PC version, the game launches with the ‘Monster Power’ feature which is basically another tier within the selected difficulty. As the name suggests, you can play around with how difficult monsters are and this in turn affects the loot drop rate. Speaking of which the drop rate in the game is much better than the PC version and you will see a lot of legendary items compared to the PC version.
The absence of the auction house from the console versions has literally changed the whole atmosphere of the game. Players no longer have an ‘easy way out’ and the only way to get loot is by killing monsters. It seems that the developers have indeed learn from their mistakes on PC and have truly built the console version from the ground up.
One of the most popular features is bound to be the inclusion of a Local 4 player co-op, which in all honesty is as good as it gets.
Despite what you may believe about console versions of games being toned down in terms of visuals, Diablo 3 still manages to look top notch. Many PC purists will argue that you can’t compare it to how the PC version looks and plays, but while they have a good point, I think the console version needs to be seen as a whole new game, because, well that’s what it feels like.
PC players will find the gameplay a little watered down as there is a lot of auto aim, which to be honest is pretty useful because it can get real hard to aim. The local 4 player co-op mode does get a little cluttered on screen but it’s still a great way to have fun if you balance out your melee : ranged character ratio to avoid or at least tone down the level of chaos on screen. The game however still doesn’t feature PvP, but hey, I think most people have given up on that anyway.
All in all the game is tons of fun and a great debut for Diablo on consoles, Definitely worth a try if you like playing with friends either via internet or local coop.
