Disco King bitten by acting bug

Fresh off the success of the track Ohh La La from the film The Dirty Picture, India’s original Disco King, Bappi Lahiri is now looking at making a statement in front of the camera. Having carved a niche for himself in the music industry since the last four decades, this bejewelled artiste is now ready to act in a film called Dard-e-Disco. “I’ve worked in this movie as an actor and joining me are Rituparna Sengupta and Aryamaan,” he confirms. The film is slated to hit the marquee in early 2012.
Bappida is also looking forward to the film Spaghetti 24x7, here he returns to music composition. Helmed by director Gaurav Pandey, the film will see the father-son duo Mithun and Mahakshay Chakraborty sharing the frame for the first time.
“I have a strong feeling that the film will fare well,” he asserts. The musician is elated that his latest international album, Walking On Love Street, is ruling the roost in many parts of the world, “It has already topped the music charts in the US and is being widely played across the leading radio centres of New York, Chicago and San Francisco,” he informs.
