Divas, Diwali and dhamaka
It’s that time of the year again when one wants to deck up and light diyas, decorate the home, indulge in good traditional food and sweets and then, on the day itself, have a blast, literally, with fire crackers amid a lot of fun and frolic with family and friends.
While it’s about getting decked up for some, for others it’s about buying gifts for friends —both cast and crew. Tamannah Bhatia, says,
“This year I am away in Geneva shooting for a Telugu film. However, even if I’m away on Diwali, I make sure to dress up in new clothes and visit a temple to light diyas. I love the festivities of Diwali and my house is usually decorated with diyas on the eve of the festival, so it’s something I can’t miss even if am away.”
“I hardly ever get to spend Diwali at home. It’s a rarity because of my shooting schedules. Everyone wonders how I spend Diwali alone, away from family, but its fun in its own way. I splurge on good clothes — ethnic wear especially. I enjoy buying gifts for others so I end up buying goodies for people on the set. Nothing like making others happy,” explains Shriya Saran, who believes in spending some lone time even if she’s shooting on such occassions.
Trisha, Khatta Meetha star is a shopaholic who indulges in luxe if she’s away from home for Diwali. “Diwali away from home means a lot of travelling. My wardrobe has never lacked new clothes, which is a saving grace during festivals. It’s a good feeling to follow tradition, dress up and spread some cheer among people around,” she sums.
