Dog-eared tomes a hit at Book Fair
Amidst the hustle bustle of crowds at the ongoing Delhi Book Fair at Pragati Maidan, husband-wife duo Arti Jain and Manish Kumar have set up their stall that sells second-hand books.
“Our second-hand books are quite popular with youngsters and college-goers who wish to buy books without burning a hole in their pockets,” says Arti, adding that the response has been good so far.
“Book fairs provide a useful platform to attract a vast range of book lovers. When you see that the books available are in good condition, you build a trust that the online portal would also deliver the right quality of books,” adds Arti.
“Our online book portal Friendsofbooks.com allows subscribers to choose from a collection of over 25,000 second-hand books and around 10,000 books from our library and have them delivered and picked up from their doorstep,” says Manish.
The first-of-its-kind venture by the young couple enables book lovers in Delhi and NCR to have access to a well-stocked library of used books. The duo have built up the book stock from their personal collection, books donated by friends, those sourced from second-hand bookstores and distributors.
Kamya Rao, an advertising professional and a regular user of the portal, says, “They have a wide array of books to choose from. Their home delivery service is another plus. Second-hand books are a boon for youngsters with budget-constraints.”
