‘Doggitionary’ to help fans decipher rap lingo
Oh, that’s dope! You feeling good today? Fo-shizzle!” Don’t understand what this sentence is trying to say? Worry not. You will soon be able to grasp the meaning of terms like ‘dope’ and ‘fo-shizzle’ once American rapper Snoop Dogg’s dictionary is on the stands. Yep, you got that right. The 39-year-old singer wants to take out his very own ‘doggitionary’ with meanings of the terms he regularly uses.
Suraj Frank, a clinical psychologist who is a huge fan of the rapper, says, “Nice! You bet I’m excited! A whole dictionary devoted to just the meanings of the words he’s made up is awesome. I will definitely use them. Moreover, he uses such funny words in his songs. I’ll finally be able to understand them! I’ve always wondered why he keeps ‘izzling’ his words. I guess now I’ll know.”
His songs are, in fact, famous for these unusual terms he uses. And there is no doubt that the ‘doggitionary’ will have many takers. DJ Hussain insists, “He has a huge fan following all over the world.
Moreover, we don’t understand his words all the time. And I think it’ll be a huge hit in the clubs among teenagers. They’ll get the whole gang-sta rap feel when they use his words.”
Snoop Dogg has been the ‘original’ hip-hop artist for years and his
fans love his songs for just that. “Most of the words and phrases he
uses are in reference to his songs. And since I’ve been listening to his albums for years, I understand them. But, I guess the dictionary will help any new kid in the block,” says restaurateur Abhijeet
Srinivas.
He’s known to use ‘dogg’ in most of his albums, as is with the case of his latest album ‘doggumentary’. Hence, it’s no surprise that even his dictionary is called ‘doggitionary’. While DJ Hussain feels that it’s an all out publicity gimmick, Abhijeet says that he’s probably doing it for his devoted fans.
Well, his fans definitely think ‘that’s dope!’ Like Suraj says, “Coolizzle!”
