Donating hair for a cause
When Rafsal grew his hair long and then donated it for a good cause, he wanted to spread the idea that, like women, men too can take part in hair donation campaigns. Rafsal stepped into this venture as part of ‘Pantene Global Care CSR Activity’.
“Anybody can take part in this project. The donated hair will go for wig-making, and these will later be handed over to cancer patients who lost their hair due to chemotherapy. Natural hair wigs are expensive. This project will be a blessing to many who have problems due to hair loss,” says Rafsal. Pantene’s global programme is making its first stop in India. While most donors worldwide are girls, Rafsal is excited that he is a trend-setter. “We have to go a long way when it comes to spreading awareness. People in rural areas even think cancer is communicable,” he explains. As Rafsal claims, he is socially committed. So, when he got hold of this campaign that went viral, he gave no second thought.
“I am a volunteer of ‘Protect Your Mom’ campaign on Facebook. That is how I came to know of this venture from Pantene. I know how cancer affects people as I have witnessed my mom suffer due to this disease. So I decided I will take this up!” adds Rafsal. He has grown his hair long for this cause. Rafsal wants to be a role model and make a difference in all possible ways.
“Donating hair isn’t a difficult task. At the end of day, you are happy that you could do your bit for your hair,” he ends.
