The door to genuine knowledge
School projects getting you down? Yes? Well, help is now at hand. The huge data bank called Encyclopaedia Britannica will now come to you free if you have an Airtel broadband connection at home. And for those who don’t have one, don’t lose heart, the 242-year-old knowledge storehouse has plans for you too.
Encyclopedia Britannica is going to reach out to schools. Currently, it has access to about 3,000 schools and plans to expand to about 15,000 schools over the next three years. Its new product, Encyclopaedia Britannica Kids has also launched a series of applications for iPhone and iPad to educate you about a variety of topics, says Jorge Cauz, President, Encyclopaedia Britannica.
Last year, Britannica introduced its online version where users could add or edit content, a concept pioneered by Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia that all of us log on to at some point or the other. So, there is also an option for you to contribute to Britannica’s rich databank.
