‘Douchebag’ apologises

Recently on Reddit, a user going by the handle “european_douchebag” posted a photo of a Sikh woman who, bound by her religion, has an abundance of untrimmed facial hair, and followed it with the caption ‘I’m not sure what to conclude from this’. The user waited for other users to share his apparent ‘shock’. But what happened next, was something nobody would have expected. Balpreet Kaur, the woman in the photo, responded to it!
In a calm and polite manner, she explained how she is bound by her religion to do so and that ‘by transcending societal views of beauty, I believe that I can focus more on my actions’. She even went on to say, ‘To me, my face isn’t important but the smile and the happiness that lie behind the face is.’
But hold on! The surprises don’t just end there, as something more miraculous happened — “european_douchebag” proved not to be that big a douchebag after all, by apologising to Balpreet. The user accepted to being stupid to have done so and that ‘It was an incredibly rude, judgmental, and ignorant thing to post,’ followed by an apology to Balpreet and the Sikh community as well. Well, incidents such as this sure do restore our faith in humanity.
